Phew~
I finally got a rest day!!

last friday was hell.

--24 Oct 08 ( Friday )--
My colleagues are doing some server migration thing on Thursday night.
they only went home at 3am plus, so naturally, as i'm blissfully asleep when they are working their arse off~~~
i'm told to come in early on Friday morning and be on standby for anything.
8am - 11am passed without any cork up..
and i praised and congratulate my colleagues for a first time ever problem-free migration..
11.15pm.
sales guy called up and complained that his whole department could not scan.
checked his login script over and over again ( as instructed at 11pm on thursday night by jee tong ) and found no problem.
feeling kinda weird, i asked shao fong to go down together to take a look ( i'm not the contact person on printer issue)
but anyway.. i have a strong suspicion that the printer is the one having problem, since the script is running well..
went to aduc and checked out. our printer account got locked out!!
we could not reset back to the default password as US side have implemented a complex password policy on all our ADs..
so.. we reset our printer pw to be alphanumeric..

which also means...
we need to change all our users password to the alphanumeric password which we just did..
so we need to try to download all the existing records in all our printers down and try to change their password..
shaofong called up fuji xerox while i'm searching for ron's guide to do the upload and download of the printer records. ( which he DID NOT DO )
so we need to start from the beginning!!!

it's 2 pm before we finally got a idea on how to solve it..
happily, we went for lunch, thinking that we got it all figured out..

here's what we ( shaofong and me) arrived at on the "solution"
go to each and every printer to try to reset one account ( manually key in the new password )
export the list out.
change the password to the same "encrypted" password that i have reset on the one particular account..
upload it back to the printer.
wait for it to reboot
test the scan. ( making sure that the printer ad does not get locked out )

came back from lunch and went to each and every printer to change the password.
went back down to my "cube" and start to export the file and do the "steps"
need to call each and every department person to inform them to stop using the printer or i will never get to export.
it's 4.30 before i managed to get hold of the all the printers export..
use 30 mins was spend on trying to upload and change.
and...
FAILED!!!
all password is encrypted and so on.

Zzzzzzzz... the next 1 hour is spent on trying over and over again at IT printer and still failed..
end of the day.. we could not get it done and it need to bring forward to next tuesday!

and somehow, ron and joey came back and did the EXACT same thing as what i did and they managed to get a different encrypted password when they manually key in.
Zzzzz..
i did NOT key in wrong password lor, cuz shaofong tried and he cant too!!
whatever~~!
